Their Magnapower ECCS600 Eddy Current Can Separator, supplied in 2015, plays a vital role in separating UBCs (Used Beverage Cans) as part of their zero‑to‑landfill process. Even after nearly a decade of continuous, heavy‑duty operation, the ECCS600 remains a core part of their system.
Comprehensive On-Site Replacement and System Optimisation
During routine operation, the Printwaste team identified that the belt on their ECCS600 had reached a point of significant deterioration. To prevent any disruption to production, they requested a priority callout for a belt replacement. Given the age and workload of the machine, the attending Magnapower engineer carried out a full assessment alongside the belt change. This inspection uncovered a more serious underlying concern: the rotor was approaching a critical stage of wear. While the belt’s deterioration prompted the service visit, the rotor’s condition indicated that a major unplanned breakdown was increasingly likely if not addressed.
Magnapower’s Proactive Engineering Approach to Minimising Downtime

The attending engineer completed the full removal and installation of the new belt, followed by the rotor replacement, alignment, and setup. They then carried out a series of detailed system checks, including magnetic performance, belt tracking, and rotor speed verification. Thanks to this efficient, well‑coordinated approach, downtime was kept to an absolute minimum, allowing the busy line to be back up and running in no time.
