Spiral Vibratory Elevator

A spiral vibratory elevator, also called a vibratory spiral conveyor, is a vertical conveying system that lifts bulk materials up (or down) a helical trough using controlled vibration, with no belts or buckets. It handles product gently, needs very little floor space, and can cool or dry material while it lifts. Magnapower designs and builds spiral vibratory elevators in the UK for food, pharmaceutical, recycling, chemical and industrial applications, in diameters up to 1.5 m, lifts up to 7m and capacities up to 10 m³ per hour.

Gentle handling reduces product damage, which makes spiral vibratory elevators well suited to delicate items such as food products, pharmaceuticals and small mechanical parts. They handle everything from granules and powders to small packaged goods.

How Does a Spiral Vibratory Elevator Work?

A spiral vibratory elevator uses specially configured vibratory motors to generate controlled movement. Material is introduced at the inlet and travels up or down a spiral trough through a combination of vertical and horizontal vibration. This motion gently conveys the product while maintaining consistent flow.

Depending on the design, the process can also provide cooling, drying, screening or accumulation during elevation.

ALL FAQ’S

What is a spiral vibratory elevator?

A spiral vibratory elevator, also known as a vibratory spiral conveyor, moves bulk materials vertically using controlled vibration rather than belts or buckets. Material travels up (or down) a helical trough, lifted by vibratory motors, making it a low-maintenance alternative to belt conveyors and bucket elevators in many applications.

How does a spiral vibratory elevator work?

Vibratory motors create a combination of vertical and horizontal movement in a spiral trough. Material enters at the inlet and moves up the helix in a series of small hops, so it keeps a consistent flow without being dragged or crushed. Depending on the design, the same unit can also cool, dry, screen or accumulate product during elevation.

What size spiral vibratory elevators does Magnapower offer?

Magnapower spiral vibratory elevators are available in diameters up to 1.5 metres and lift heights up to 7 metres, with capacities up to 10 cubic metres per hour. Units can be top drive or bottom drive to suit different inlet heights.

How high can a spiral vibratory elevator lift material?

Magnapower spiral vibratory elevators can be manufactured with lifts of up to 7 metres, providing an effective solution where factory floor space is limited.

What materials can a spiral vibratory elevator handle?

They handle a wide range of bulk solids, from granules and powders to small packaged goods and mechanical parts. The gentle action suits delicate or fragile product that more aggressive conveying methods would damage. Very sticky, very wet or large lumpy materials need extra consideration, and we recommend sample testing in those cases.

Can spiral vibratory elevators be used in food or pharmaceutical applications?

Yes, spiral vibratory elevators are commonly used in food and pharmaceutical processing because they can be manufactured in food-grade stainless steel and offer gentle, hygienic material handling. Magnapower builds units in both mild steel and food-quality stainless steel depending on the application.

Can a spiral vibratory elevator cool or dry material?

Yes. Because product spends extended time on the spiral trough, it can cool naturally while being conveyed. Magnapower can also engineer drying or cooling into the elevator, which can reduce the need for separate equipment. Performance depends on the material and process conditions, so please discuss your requirements with our team.

What capacity can a spiral vibratory elevator achieve?

Magnapower systems can handle throughput rates of up to 10m³ per hour, depending on the material characteristics and machine specification.

Do spiral vibratory elevators require a lot of maintenance?

No. They have far fewer moving parts than belt or bucket systems, so maintenance requirements and running costs are typically lower. They are also self-supporting, so installation is straightforward and no extra structural framework is needed. Magnapower’s service engineers support you before, during and after installation, and we supply parts, repairs and refurbishment.

What industries use spiral vibratory elevators?

Food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, plastics and packaging, foundries and metalworking, and waste and recycling. They suit any site that needs gentle vertical transport of bulk material in a small footprint.

Can I buy a spiral vibratory elevator without any other Magnapower equipment?

Yes, Magnapower’s spiral vibratory elevators are sold as standalone units and do not require any other Magnapower separation or processing equipment. They can be installed as an independent solution in any facility needing gentle vertical material handling.

Where are Magnapower spiral vibratory elevators made?

They are designed and manufactured in the UK by the specialist team formerly of Dynamic Handling Ltd, acquired by Magnapower in 2024, backed by over 33 years of Magnapower experience in material separation and handling.
